Adam, thank you As Ron has suggested, with excellent follow up, I just use uncompressed DNG's. There are a few card readers now that have USB 3.0, so there is no point in reducing the file sizes, as the data transfer is very fast.

Ron, really love the flow of #2!

Was just browsing the Leica forum thread about the latest firmware and it seems quite a few shoot compressed DNG. My guess is for most purposes it probably won't make an appreciable difference. Just like how a meaty Jpeg can be quite robust... But I'll stick with uncompressed.

Thanks Charles!

Change of venue: Hiking the Bruce Trail along the Bruce Peninsula and Georgian Bay:

BTW, it was my first time there in about 20 years... not sure why I waited so long! It was a nice 4.5 hour drive from home for a ~9km 6-hour (!) hike over rugged terrain that really whooped me. I almost didn't go because the weather forecast didn't look good, but the fact it wasn't full-on sun most of the day was a certain reprieve from the scorching I got a week later at Point Pelee..

Thanks for the comments.

Seekul, sorry about confusion, I think this must be 2nd time I confuse you with your brother

Gary, really nice sets!! Number 1 of first set stand out for me for the lighting and composition. and both images of set 2 are nice with beautiful color.

As for JPEG, I must admit I don't shoot them often unless I am doing some lens test, and just leave them as JPG to save space. But my experience with M9 WB is not good to put it conservative. it might be something to do with LR preset of M9. Judge JPG from your last two set, I think they are very good. I have used to RAW, and I do find I revisit my photos with better PP skill or different mind set to give a picture new life. WB is very useful tool for me to set color balance or creative control the color of picture. In that sense, there is no right or wrong, but I can't let Camera set for me

Charles, f1's rendering is just beautiful.

Ron, again, excellent series! Fantastic compositions, exposure and sharpness.

Adam, Thanks for the info about 50AA. Actually if it is set at 50lux price, I might choose it over 50lux as I have find f2 is very balance aperture to my preference now days but $7000? not foresee future for me. I shoot compressed RAW. Reason is I set that way and forget turn it back for a while, your post reminder me to set them back

Here are some photoes to share:

35cron both WO

same car another angle

I find the bokeh highlight of 35cron V1 is always circular all the way to the image edge, which is very rare from any lens I have seen so far.

21 Biogon WO (don't know why I choose WO)

I try to simulate slide film look on this one

50lux f2.8

BTW, will not have new photos to post as I will send my whole kit to Leica NJ to have 50lux focus error fixed and CLA the M9 before upcoming trip back to China

Holbrook Arizona, Route 66 Joe and Aggies Cafe

Still trying to get the B&W process to work, I think this is close to what I am trying to achieve but the Blacks don't seem Black enough and when I do get them darker it seems the whole scene darkens? Any input?
Thanks!

Michael, thank you
Ron, love the random composition of the trees!
Michael, really like #3, the angles and lines in this shot BTW, very cool car
Doug, beautiful B&W conversion! It is difficult getting the rich blacks, without losing detail in the shadows. This is where I do miss printing on silver halide paper
Gary, stunning sunset!

P544

Charles, Super images from the Noctilux, a very pretty model too! The last one in the second set is spectacular.

The sunset shots are really nice as well.

Bruno, Good airport shots, I like number 3

Denoir, Nice architectural work, Number 2 is a nice detail shot.

P546

Seekuh, That 50mm Noctilux is superb! I think that the car is a volvo, super shot!

Love the isolation in the second set.

Charles, Nice shots from Bali!

Ron Point Pelee, you are just down the road... I have done a lot bird photography there. nice set. I like the fish shot!

Najibs Nice family set.

Adam, The new Summicron, good show! I look forward to more images if you have them. It looks like it has very smooth bokeh!

Charles, thanks for comments.

telluridestock, that is a nice shot. Don't know which software you use. But seems LR4 has noticeable improvement separate the black, shadow, exposure, highlight and white. In other word, you can turn down the black without affect whole picture. under tone cure tab, you can also control white, highlight, shadow and black individually, which works for me some time.

Gary, the sunset picture is beautiful.

Andrew, again like the whole set. color is great. I especially like the #3, #5 kitchen picture, It is very typical Chinese Kitchen 20-30 years ago, but I am not surprised there is still a lots of place like these in China now.

Some more photos to share. All B&W with VC35, a while ago from SF.

P547 & 548

Gary, Your 90 'cron images are really well done, I especially like the Eagle sitting on the tide marker!

Super sunset!

In your second set, I like both! In #1, I especially like how you managed to capture the reflections on the water and the rocks underneath.

Ron, Really good control of the highlights in the boardwalk shots, did you polarize at all? The CV12 images are a nice view point. Nice to see that lens being used! A super set overall!

In your second set, I like the sand detail and the texture that it adds to the image!

Cypress Lake and Tobermory are two of my favourite spots to go camping. I am looking forward to seeing more of your images from there.

Nice creativity with the wave shots!

Charles, being partial to redheads I really like this shot. Love the Leica glow in this one!

Zhangyue, Like the Bentley shot, you held the highlights well. The Wide angle shot works more dynamically for me than the 50mm shot, which feels somewhat static when placed beside the 21mmm shot.

Love the architecture in your second set, nice composition. #3 &4 are great!

Telluride, You need to work in curves, you can pull down smaller sections of black and leave the black point alone. the curve will flatten on the bottom when they block up. The image is nice, but I think that you are looking for more tone in the skin, is that correct? If so try adding clarity as well. I would pull the highlights a bit to bring more detail into the mans shirt.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments.

Thanks Andrew. I actually used a CPL for that "moving water" shot and it worked out quite well. Something I may try again with water shots...

Telluride,

Nice image, I would pull the mid section down just a little to bring in more detail on the cheeks.
