I searched-couldn't find anything. So how do you update camera raw in Elements 7. I went to Adobe site, downloaded camera raw 5.6, but I can't seem to get it to install. I ran the exe file for profiles (the only exe file there), and it said it installed them, although I don't know how to tell if they did or didn't. But when I open a raw image it still opens in camera raw 4.5. Where's my 5.6
If you go to this page and enter in either "Photoshop Elements - Windows" or "Photoshop Elements - Macintosh", you will see the latest versions of Camera Raw available for your software.
Camera Raw v5.5 was the latest and final Camera Raw available for elements 7. I am a little confused, however, regarding your mention of Camera Raw 4.5 since that would imply you are using Elements 6, not 7. Camera Raw 4.6 was the last and final version of Camera Raw available for Elements 6.
Read the readme file that comes with the appropriate update very carefully. You will need to delete, move, or rename older versions for the new version of Camera Raw to work reliably.
Well, don't ask me how, but I managed to get acr 5.6 installed. Thanks for the tip about the read-me, that got me going in the right direction. I printed the directions from that and tried to follow, but my folder structure did not match what they said. On a hunch I went a little different route and got to the end folder where I had to replace the acr file. I did that and it worked. I now have 5.6 installed, and it was 4.5 previously, btw.
