I'm ALWAYS on the B&S forum. Figured I would show some of you guys that I don't just sell equipment lol!
This guy hired me to do a shoot to show off his accessories. Let me know what you guys think. As always comments/critiques always welcome!

I think your client has dubious tastes.
As to the images:
#1. Interesting background, a tad too soft. The framing is tighter than it needs to be. I assume it served some purpose, just like being shirtless. The light seems OK.
#2. The light has obvious issues. As to the champagne box, I only have one expression: wtf? Wasn't the bottle enough?

background on #1 doesn't fit, the green is very distracting.
#2 has been said, the box is just wrong and the lighting is only halfway there. the pose and props scream theatrical! but the light is too flat.
Have you smoothed his skin? the face looks horribly soft.
Sorry to be so harsh, but these are for commercial use, (and doesn't that mean there is an issue with the DP bottle?) so get a more thourough going over!
I like the concept of the second shot particularly.

Eric let me put this in a different way.
1. The over accessorizing isn't the issue here. Taste and delivery of the message is.
Examples: On the second shot the box is there because someone (notice I have not
qualified who) believed that we the viewers may not know Don P. from shinola. So it
has to hit us over the head with it. As subtle as an incoming train. The lack of shirt
on the first image has the same effect.
2. Technically both shots have issues. Let's say that on my first approach I did not
wish to be exhaustive but... well lets see:
Image #1:
- Good light ( I like it).
- The lack of parallelism on the left beam is problematic.
- The figures/shapes drawn on the beam draws my eyes a tad too much to them.
- The green color is predominant even if you selectively unsharpened the background.
Still the softness on the background could have been more gentle and subtle.
- The eyes are positively alien/zombie like.
Image #2:
- Fine you did the light on purpose. Well...you get the idea.
- The Don P. box just kills it. Totally, absolutely.
- The rest of the excess actually works.
- The focus unfortunately is on the wall and not on the face.
What does any of this mean. Not an iota as far as you are concerned as a photographer.
Just that we all could/can improve.
