p.1 #1 · Stupid question re: 5dm2 and vignetting with 24-105

So here's a stupid question:

I'm sending my 5dm2 and 24-105 for my complimentary CPS cleaning/tuneup and I wrote a note (as a "by the way" note) about seeing some vignetting at f/4 when I have the 24-105 lens on. Am I a moron for mentioning this - thinking that they can address this or should I live with it (I figured if I'm sending it in, I might as well bring up everything...)?

I also asked really nicely if they'd upgrade me to the mythical firmware that will do 1080p/24 or 720p so I can make people jealous on the internet. lol.

The vignetting at f/4 is a normal thing with this lens, especially at the wide angle end.

That's what I had kind of red. Thanks Dan. (sometimes you just need someone to say it)

DPP has a feature to remove the vignetting. Something called peripheral correction or some such.

Yes, it is easy to compensate for it in post. (By the way, the 24-105, which I own and like a great deal, also shows noticeable barrel distortion at 24mm - also correctable in post.)

Yep, run RAW through DPP and you can remove both barreling and light fall-off. Ah couple clinks 'n yo' in like flint.

Welcome to the world of FF. Easily fixed in post and sometimes can be used to your advantage in capturing certain moods.

The peripheral illumination correction is also available in-camera on the 5DII.

This is especially helpful when writing jpgs to your card.

Typical for this lens one reason why I sold it.
