People will debate pros/cons of the new lens back and forth, but as with all new equipment announcements, some will rush out and buy, others will pass, some will wait to see how they perform.
Going to wait to see how they perform, but my curiosity is certainly piqued with the 16-35. I've been lamenting the absence of a travel UWA that can take filters with an update in optical quality.

I'm almost 100% sure that I'm getting the 24/1.4 at this point. The only thing holding me back from investing in Nikon full-frame was a lack of fast wide primes. Ideally, by the end of summer I'll be shooting with the following kit:
Undecided (but likely a D700) full frame Nikon body
24mm f/1.4 AFS
50mm f/1.4 AF-D
85mm f/1.4 AF-D
70-200 f/2.8 AFS VR
TC-20e III
Will buy neither. The 16-35 sounded interesting, but alas it's bigger than my 17-55 (and a stop slower). And I have no need for VR on a lens of that focal length range. Besides, I'm a DX shooter, and I've read a few comments in the other thread about DX owners not requiring "pro" glass like the 16-35 and 24 f1.4. Too funny!

That's a very good kit
I myself am hesitating selling my 20mm and 24-70 and getting the 24/1.4 to add to my kit :
I'm really interested in the 24mm f/1.4, however, the price tag is WAY too high... I'm gonna wait and see how it truely stacks up against other offerings, and see if the price comes down a little as well... (well, I'm wishing it'll come down more... $1k would have been more reasonable)
As i've said elsewhere, I usually buy used, so for me it'll be either a long wait for a used sample to turn up or a very painful extraction of cash for a brand new one!
From a quick glance at the comparitively-priced 70-200/2.8 VR II, i'd guess the UK price on the 24/1.4 will be about £1799 on release... which would make it the most expensive lens i've ever bought, and i'd think very long and hard before doing that.
24/1.4 possibly depends how much i have left after selling all my canon gear, Id rather have a back up camera body just incase vs a extra expensive lens so we'll see.
I was looking at the 14-24 or 24-70 which would be better choices. or the 17-35 and 28-70
I'd have to see prices first but I think I'd be most likely to buy the 16-35 even though it isn't f/2.8, possibly to replace my Tokina 12-24 so that i'd have something wider than my 24-70 for FX
EDIT: Saw prices, unless I come across a lot of cash and have other needs covered i won't be getting either. I'd prefer the 24 1.4 if I had the choice though, it seems like a great prime that will be very popular.
