p.1 #1 · Strobed HS Basketball Last Friday

Here's a few from last Friday. Direct strobes mounted at top of bleacher rails just behind the baseline. Canon 50D, ISO 640, 1/250. F4.0

Good overall lighting... I especially liked #3, 4 and 5.

What about the equipment?? Were you using 580ex flashes? 24 or 28-70/2.8 lens?

My gear bag is not really suited for basketball, but rather for field sports like football, soccer, baseball, etc., I am able to do some stuff with the 70-200/2.8 lens I have, but I need to beef up my strobe gear and get remote triggering equipment.

I used my 70-200/2.8 for most of the game - I did use the 28-70/2.8 for about the last quarter, but I don't think any of these were taken with that. I would normally use the strobes at 1/2 power, but I have brackets that hold two flashes on each lightstand, and I set them at 1/4 power for quick recycling. I can get 2-3 quick shots without waiting for recycling with this method. I have 2 Nikon sb-80dx's on one side and a Canon 580EXII and an old Canon 540EZ on the other. They are all "roughly" the same power. I fire each set of two strobes with one PW Plus II.
