I have added some test shots made with this lens.
These were made with a tripod mounted brand new Canon 5D MarkII.
All shots were focused using 10X magnification with liveview. (focused very accurately)
Focus area was in the center of the shot (except for the close up shots - slightly off center)
Files are straight from camera - ISO 50, Large JPGS, in camera picture style set to standard. - no sharpening added.
I've shot from f/1.4 to f/16 in 1/3 stop increments. Judge for yourself. Look at the file info/EXIF data in the photos to see exposure/aperture settings.

Strong points of this lens are:
Incredible solid all metal build quality and construction - Zeiss knows how to build an incredible lens - this isn't some plastic auto-focus piece of junk - this lens is meant to be around for decades of use.
Since it isn't auto-focus - it works extremely well with shooting video on a DSLR - it is virtually silent and the focus is buttery smooth. You will never hear noise from an auto-focus motor with this lens picked up in your microphone.
Incredibly sharp once stopped down past f/2.8 - probably one of the sharpest 50mm lenses you can purchase today.
Extremely narrow focus wide open - interesting art effect/bokeh - similar to a Lensbaby.
