Looks like a nice update. Some of the major upgrades like faces and GPS are merely iPhoto catchups. I wonder if they improved the NR component or if you still need a plugin for serious work.

Still digesting everything. But... curves, working with video, brushes, selective editing, all non destructive. WOW. Didn't see anything with NR though.

Looks like a nice upgrade. The addition of faces kind of "dumbs it down" a little and distracts from some of the much needed addtions.

Always liked Aperture; esp for commercial stuff... this looks to be a decent upgrade also

NR is better than LR3. It's actually not so much NR but rather a better Debeyer.

And as for Faces - don't use it if it's dumbing it down for you

Ok, this is the year that I finally start using Aperture or Lightroom.

Can anyone report on how well Apple's deBeyer-ing handles raw data prone to mazing, as seen from some 7D bodies, for example? I suppose I just need to try it out.

My point was that discussion around the internet today has been centered on "faces". People are claiming that this is no longer a professional photo management tool, and LR is the only real option. I think that is far from the truth. Aperture has been a powerful tool, and looks even better after the upgrade.

Can anyone get Focusing Distance to work? Nice to see Aperture allowing you to see the AF points.

Some interesting stuff there, but still no word about supporting mRAW/sRAW?

Anybody that says Aperture isn't a professional photo tool doesn't know what they are talking about. I'm really happy about the ability to rename masters(drove me nuts how it affected smart albums). The ability to alter the scope of smart albums is another thing I was hoping for.

hurray! it's now compatible with the Panasonic micro 4/3rds RAW format.

I hated the workflow with SilkyPix

that's ridiculous, like saying you wouldn't buy a Canon DSLR because it has a direct print button!

Mmm. Seems to work very nicely. Curves is a great addition. I feel faster on my machine too.

Not sure how you arrived at that conclusion, as luminance nr is disabled in LR3 beta.

The formats page specifically mentions both mRAW and sRAW.

Just comparing apples and apples by making similar choices in A3. Also, if you quote my comment in full, you will see that I am specifically mentioning the debeyer and not the NR.

...The same page also mentions the 1Ds Mark IV but not the 1D Mark IV...typo?!...poor proof-reading?!

Looks like an exciting upgrade!

Mac on,
