I cannot give advise Cindy because i really don't shoot much in the way of flowers, but i will say i the light play and the detail you have brought out in these is very nice. well done

2 and 5 for me. The white and the shadows mix very well.

Thank you too, John. I liked the contrast in those too, but I wasn't sure how well it worked.

The above rose and #2 are my favorites. Well done.
Ted
I just realized that I hadn't thanked you for the comment/compliment, Ted; sorry about that. It's tough to beat a rose for beauty. I took a few photos of some red roses that were in a different arrangement from last week too, but the white ones were much prettier, IMO.

#2 is a beauty,, the soft light is very complimentary on the white rose and the other roses in the BG add interest without taking the eye away from the in focus rose. The highlights in #1 are substantially brighter than the rose, not a good thing in this case. #5 is nice as well, I'd like to see this shot with light on all the roses but a bit less bright. My condolences for your loss Cindy and thanks for the PM.
Thank you, reko. I appreciate the comments and the condolences.
I can see what you mean about #1; I liked it, but something wasn't quite right about it, but I couldn't put my finger on it. #5 was sort of a fluke and luck because the lighting is only sunlight through the transom light (or fanlight/overlight as they say in the UK) in our dining room and a bit from spotlights on either side of the chandelier over the table. Thank you for your suggestions and thoughts; it does help.
beautiful roses. # 1, 2, 3, & 6 are my favorites....
May I express my condolences for the loss of your mother.
89 is a respectable age.
Lil
Thank you too, Lil. I sent my friends who sent the flowers a couple of the photos so that they could see how lovely they were.
Thank you also for your condolences; you're right about 89 being a respectable age. She was in pretty good health; after Dad died almost 8 years ago, her will to live and enjoyment in life was never quite the same. (They had been married almost 57 years.)
