Here are a few from a Saturday outing up to the Fir Island/Skagit Valley area. I didn’t see any signs of the Short-eared Owls, but it was a very nice day to be out enjoying the scenery and taking in the fresh delta air.
There seemed to be quite a few Bald Eagles about, but many of them were up in the thermals. There did seem to be quite few more raptors in the area including several Kestrals. The Snow Geese however did not appear to be anywhere around. I hope the warmer weather hasn’t caused them to move on already.

1)Meadowlark – I couldn’t get close to these guys so tried 1700mm, not bad for hand held.
2)Trumpeterscape- something a little different, the flyers weren’t very cooperative though.
3)Treescape – I find something intriguing about this stretch of land each time I pass by it, this time I stopped for a couple captures while the light was nice.
4) Bald Eagle – one of the few closer good looks I had at didn’t fumble the exposure on.

Hey Jay!

ML at 1700 is looking mighty fine! Nice work on that one. The eagle in 2 is a long way out there

Are those Starlings flying about

3 is a wonderful shot, I like it. I'm always kicking myself for not taking landscapes up there more seriously. Baldie about to take flight is a shot full of tension. Nice set Jay.

Not to worry the geese are still there, I spent a good hour with them on Sunday

Well done Jay!! that is pretty impressive on the Meadow Lark, holy cow!! I really like the Landscape and the coloring on the Eagle take off is really nice

, seriously, cool scape shot Jay! #3 is flat out gorgeous and you know you are makin me smile thinkin about the place

Very nice set, Jay. I particularly like the first shot: a nice composition with an atmosphere, and very well processed. They all have beautiful colors and I enjoyed the set very much.

cool series jay. i'm intrigued by #2. looks like a lone bald eagle in the distance on top of that tree. there are also these black spots scattered across the middle of the pic in the tree line. was that birds in flight?
