Hi Brian,
Really nice pics and it's nice to see that your bugs are starting to shake off the snow and ice. . .
That first pic looks like a bit of a cross breed? Eyes and body stripings of a bee and the rest of the parts look 'fly' like. . .

Thanks Brian, but what would be the benefit to the hoverfly?
As far as I know, all the other critters, spiders etc., still beat up and eat bees
