Thanks Jim! What would you recommend doing on #1?
Hey Michael,
Actually in #1, you did capture enough of the ice/snow at the top. But It's being blown out that really keeps drawing the eye there. It's overexposer is in such contrast to the rest of the shot being perfectly exposed. As to what I would do, that's not an easy answer. Well, the answer is easy.... but whether it would work would be the trick here. I would underexpose that area and blend it in. But trying to balance keeping it white but not having it blown out will be tough. As you underexpose that area more it can have a tendency to turn gray. Did you bracket in that area and specifically expose for the ice and that brightness at the top?
How was the hike into it? Did the snow/ice cause any issues?

You know, I did for most other shots, just not this one. I did do AEB through the whole thing but the contrast between the exposed area's in #1 and the ice were so great that I would have had to change it dramatically (which I SHOULD have done), but I'll work on it later, thanks for the tips!
Hey these photos look awesome. Great to have your toes frozen isn't it? I had this same experience last year during a snowstorm. Your photos look awesome. If you're interesting, here's a link to mine you can checkout: Gordon Smith Photography
Extremely nice pics. I plan to go there this Thursday. Can you give me more detail on the depth of the water. Did you want gators for snow or to help keep water out of the boots. Were you in the water for much of the trip.
Thank you in advance.
Saw these when you first posted and have come a few times, very cool shots! Of the series the third works the best for me, but all are excellent!
Thanks for the view!
Very cool. I like #2 the best as well (those two waterfalls before the subway are gorgeous, and caught be completely by surprise the first time I went there, and are worth the hike by themselves). The entire set is well done.
