We woke up at 5am NV time to head over to Zion to get there by eight o'clock UT time so we were guaranteed a permit to the Subway. Turns out we were the only ones who WANTED a ticket this time of year - sweet! It was great, and perfect with us being the only ones there. Foot and a half of snow in some places, but my boots held up great. Wonderful experience and I will do it again soon. Here are some of the shots I came up with.
1. The actual subway. The sand in those holes are spectacular.
2. My favorite shot. Who would have thought? This wasn't even in the actual subway.
Just gorgeous all are simply stunning how was the trail going down that initial descend this time of year? Did you post #2 on Deviant Art a image yesterday was an exact take of #2, very nicely seen on all of these

Thanks Ray! Sadly I did not go from the top down, I went from the bottom up then back down, it was still great but I'd love to go back during the summer.
Great set Mike. Really like #s 3 and 4, with 4 being my favorite of the set. I might be tempted to burn in the highlights on 1 and 4. Also, try a widescreen crop on #4 (16:9),; I think it would make a pretty cool pano shot.
Mike, I'm sure that Ray was referring to the descent down into the canyon on the "bottom-up" route. I've been there a couple of times and if it were covered by snow and ice (or muddy), I can imagine it being very hazardous.
Hey Mike, I really like #3 here. That is a sweet shot. I want to like #1 and 4... I like that taste of icicles in the shot, but both shots feel cutoff at the top to me.

OH! I gotcha. We went so early that the mud was very hard and there was no snow whatsoever on that first descent. The only hard parts were nearest the subway when there was a lot of snow.
