It is a dark beer (actually Irish Red, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_red_ale#Irish_red_ale). There are indeed traces of red. I have taken tons of pictures for this week's assignment (mostly frozen waterfalls) but like this one for the subtle red/black combination. On my calibrated monitor, the difference is quite obvious. You can also make out a frost line on the outside of the glass, just below the surface of the beer. But I find most LCD monitors are way too high contrast and subtlety is often lost. I still use CRT monitors for digital photography; they seem to produce more consistent and predictable results (at least in my price range). Cheers, Rich Feb 08, 2010 at 12:48 AM
