p.1 #1 · FS: Sold: Canon 70-200 (added sample), OM adapter

&SHowdy FMers. In light of recent family events (read:medical bills), I have been forced to squeeze any and all cash revenues I might have. Since there is little market for post-modern literature, I have decided to sell most of my digital gear. Here is what's for grabs:

1: SOLD:
Canon 5D classic. Good clean body that I picked up on the B forum in September. Has 15,700 clicks on it. Has a few minor scuffs on the rear LCD (see pics). Comes with original battery (which still holds charge just fine) and cover, the original Canon utilities and 3 other burned disks the original owner included (EOS photography books, manual, new software-I never really looked at them), original strap, a CA-PS400 dual battery charger with cord, video cable, USB cable, body cap, and a Magic Lantern guide. I never had the original box or paperwork. Looking for $1000 paypalled and shipped.

2: SOLD:
Canon 5D classic. This is my second 5D, and I am the original owner. It was purchased back in 2007 from Amazon. I have the original box (sans the original foam and a section where I cut the proof of purchase), the warranty card, manual in English (I have misplaced the Spanish one), Canon strap, body cap, USB cable, wall charger and 3 batteries (one is the original Canon (still good) and 2 offbrand 2000 mAh batteries). The camera has an Ee-S screen installed. I will include the original Ee-A screen in the plastic box the Ee-S came with, along with the instructions that it came with. Shutter count is 15,535. Has a few dings around the top of the viewfinder and the left side (a new benefit of using the R-straps). There is also a hair-thin scratch on the top LCD and a small scuff on the rear LCD (I coudn't get a good picture of it-it's about a mm square). I'd like to get $1100 shipped and paypalled. Price drop: $1000

3: SOLD:
Canon EF 70-200L f/2.8 non-IS. I've had this gorgeous lens since 2007, and it has been my favorite. Fast to focus, sharp as heck, and gorgeous bokeh. I am the original owner. Glass is immaculate, and the lens has never been dropped. The only signs of use are a pair of symmetrical scratches where the tripod foot had rubbed. The hood shows the usual scuff marks, and the front cap has a ding where it had been dropped on several occasions. This lens comes with everything you'd get were it to be bought new- front and rear caps, hood, tripod foot, lens case, little string for the case, box, warranty card, instruction manual, and I even kept the original foam inserts for the box. Date code is UU. Looking for $1000 shipped and paypalled. Price drop: $950

4: SOLD:
Canon EF 50 f/1.4. Bought this lens new about 18 months ago. Performance is what you'd expect from the Canon 1.4. Usable at 1.4, but gets really sharp at 1.8. The body and glass are spotless. Comes with a Canon hood (which was extra), box, instructions, front and rear caps, and warranty card. Can't seem to locate the date code on the 1.4, there is only a serial. Asking $300 shipped and paypalled.

5: SOLD:
[ Sigma 50 f/2.8 Macro. If you've read about this lens (and most Sigma lenses, for that matter) you know that you're either going to get a lemon or a rockstar. This lens is in the latter category, and you may notice pictures of it don't look as nice as those of the other items (I'll let you guess which lens I used for the other pics...). Bought this from KEH about 2 years ago, in a LN- condition, and have done well to keep it that way. This lens is sharp wide open, and by f/4 gets to be clinically sharp. It's a full 1:1 macro lens, and can be useful as a portrait lens as well. Only downside to it is the relatively slow AF (compared with the 70-200 what isn't), and depending on your lighting, it may hunt in low light. Glass and body are pristine. Comes with front and rear caps and hood. Asking for $225 shipped and paypalled.

6: SOLD:
Canon EX430. This is the mark I version of the 430 flash. The unit functions great, and body is clean. There are 2 minor scratches- on the wireless sensor, and one on the assist beam. These have no effect on performance. Flash comes with stand, case, instruction manual, and box. Looking for $165 shipped and paypalled.

7: SOLD:
Canon BG-E4 Grip. This was used on one of my 5D's, and has pretty much lived there since I got it. There are a few dings in the corners, but nothing major. Included is the AA battery holder (never used), instructions, and box. Asking for $110 shipped and paypalled.

8: SOLD:
Quantum CZ cable. Just thought someone may be on the lookout for one of these. All I have is the cable, which I have used 3 times back when I still had a 580. This will hookup a Quantum Turbo, or 2x2 to a Canon flash. Call it $20 shipped and PP'd.

9: SOLD:
Canon RS-80N3 Remote. Does what it's supposed to, Canon charges you too much for them. I have only the remote. $30 shipped and PP'd.

10: MOVED TO ANOTHER POST:
:OM-to-EOS adapter, with FC. Here's something for you alt users- this is a happypageHK chipped adapter (one of the new ones that you can change yourself depending on the lens you're using). It is currently chipped for an 85 f/2, but I know you can change it to whatever lenses you want (there are instructions online). I've used this adapter since last June, and have been swapping 3 lenses on it. AF confirmation works great. This, again is for Olympus OM lenses to EOS cameras. Happy charges $65 and 5 for shipping. Looking for $50, shipped and PP'd. Comes with an original Canon Rear cap.

11: SOLD:
Elinchrom Ranger Speed AS kit. Here is my beloved Ranger AS kit. I bought this new from B&H in the fall, and it has been out about 10 times. I doubt I've put 500 pops on it. It's like new. This is the S-head kit, and it includes 1 Ranger Speed AS pack, 2 batteries, 1 Freelite S-head, 1 Varistar reflector, 1 standard reflector, power adapter, 1 varistar brolly box (31"), 1 sync cord, a skyport RX adapter, and a case. I'm also including 1 Skyport transmitter (with box and instructions) and an RX receiver (again with box and instructions). I'm also throwing in a translucent deflector. Asking $2000 for the whole box, and this will include shipping and fees.

12: SOLD:
Rotalux Deep Octa Softbox. This is a 39" Deep Octa (AKA Deep Throat) Elinchrom softbox. It comes with the inner and outer baffles, the Elinchrom speedring, and the original bag. I don't have any pics of it, but it's in "as new" condition. Let me know if need pics, and I'll send them out. The first $200 takes it home.

Well, thanks for looking through this ridiculously long thread. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm willing to ship to the continental US, and will accept payments through paypal. All items will be shipped via UPS and insured.

Can you tell me more about the OM adapter? I've been looking at picking one of these up, but frankly don't understand the chip system exactly. I have about 5 OM lenses that I'd like to try out on my EOS - does the chip prevent it from being a simple swap to go from one lens to another?

Thanks!

Actually, the nice thing about the OM lenses, as you know is that they release from the mount by squeezing the 2 metal buttons on the side of the lens. What that allows is for the adapter to stay on the camera, and you to swipe lenses (provided they're all OM). Having that chip basically allows the camera to identify that there is a lens (and you can program the lens info), and activates the AF on the camera. Focusing is still manual, but you get confirmation points (which I've found accurate).

Ok, I guess what I don't understand then is the "programming" part. Does the adapter have to be reprogrammed for each lens, or once it's programmed does it recognize which lens is mounted? What does "programming" it involve?

ie. how usable will it be across 5 different lenses?

Sorry- should have made this clearer. The OM lenses have no electronics, so no, the camera or the adapter cannot recognize them (they are basically a heap of metal, which have glass to focus light). What you can do is program the adapter to tell the camera that whenever it's on the mount, it is such and such lens. The programming is simple. Here are the instructions from the seller I got mine from:
http://cgi.ebay.com/AF-Confirm-Olympus-EOS-Adapter-w-o-AF-pin-OPTIX-V5_W0QQitemZ280456910994QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCamera_Lenses?hash=item414c88d892

What that does is it assigns a certain focal length and max aperture to the chip, and every time that adapter is on, the camera will think you have a, say 24mm lens at 2.8 (regardless of what the lens is). This info is useful were you to have an adapter for each lens. In my case every shot I've taken with an OM lens reads 85mm at f/2. I could have easily spent a minute to change the info on the chip to read the lens that was actually on it, but to me at least it wasn't worth the time. I know that every shot that I've taken that reads 85 f/2 was with one of my 3 Olys. Hope that helps.

Sorry- missed your other question. What I meant to say about the OM lenses was that their design does not require them to be unmounted from the actual camera, but just from the adapter. That means that it's pretty easy to just swap the lens, and use one adapter for all your lenses.

So the programming only sets the exif data, but doesn't effect the use of the lens?

Got it. Thanks for all the info. I think, if that's the case, I'll just spring for a non-chipped version.

I guess the main reason I went with the chipped version was for the autofocus confirmation. The non-chipped versions are significantly cheaper. Try fotodiox:
