Make them bigger Most can view at least 1280x1000px limit.. and your pics look very good. All Zeiss pics look better bigger.

Slowly getting back to posting on this thread after a fairly long hiatus (ignoring the posts done a few weeks ago). Some of my previous posts (~300 pages ago!) were @ 1200px horizontal. Right now , i have it @ 1000px, I didn't want to mess up the page width for the rest of the posts (!!), but I am comfortable posting it larger. (will do so later this evening)

I've been going round in circles researching something around 25mm with a complimentary look, 21/2.8, 25/2-2/8, 28/2 (ZE version ideally.) Primarily seascape/landscape but general (sub)urban use would be great too.
25mm would be my ideal focal length. I can see - from the awesome images in this thread - the 21/2.8 has 'it' too but 21mm is really getting too wide for me and a little too specialised. I have the TS-E24II already, so this is a bit of an indulgence/something different to round out my ZE kit (50MP/100MP)
25/2 - expensive, very limited second-hand market, seems to get very negative reviews on performance at infinity which makes me think it isn't going to be my 'wide 50MP'.
25/2.8 - don't know much about it, could be a cheap option although ZE seem to be rarer.
28/2 - top of the list at the moment. cheaper, performance at f/8-11 sounds perfect, and it doubles up for an awesome closer in lens with character.
I think it'll be the 28/2 but any advice welcome. My mistake is looking through this thread, then I see some of Ronnys 85 Planar shots and then I realise I 'need' the 85 and...

Exactly the same I also got craving for 85 because of those museum shots. The only thing I am worrying is focus performance, 50mm is easy to focus, 2/100 with magic lantern is almost autofocus. Canon (or Nikon) should really make mirror-less camera optimized for manual focus lenses, and why not huge lcd display at the back? good performance with live view etc. 2/25 is not a bad lens at all..it has double blur, strange performance, but it is small and fast. You can also buy old leica 2.8/24mm as an option. I could send you some raw files from 2/25. Very sharp.
Ideally Zeiss will release something around 28-30 in otus line. I would carry only one otus if I ever buy one and maybe 30mm. There is certainly zeiss-obsessive-compulsive (ZOCD) disorder in the play here.
the 35 has the same punch as the 50 and the 25/2.8 as well, the 28 less so.

but if you like the focal length, it is a good sharp lens, I have nothing negative to report.
The museum series some weeks back were shot with it.
I often use the 28 together with the 85 for city shots:
somehow the 28 seems to lead itself into BW images
if you are mainly after the microcontrast/look of the 50 MP, 21, 25/2.8 35/2 and 100 MP
compliment it best. The 25/2 seems more in line with the 35/1.4 and the Planars.
And I find that the 28 is also best complimented by the Planars.

it seems to me as not so punchy as the 25/2.8. I have posted many landscape
shots with the 25. If I don't want to haul the 21 around, I take the 25/2.8 instead.
It really depends on what focal length you prefer. If you want 25, the 25/2.8 is a
cheap solution and it is very good for landscape, it is not very sharp at close
distance wide open, but from 3 m on you can use it at 2.8 and it is tack sharp.
25/50/100 is a good tripple set.
My vote goes to the 25/2.8. If you wish I can repost some landscape images.

Thank you both. I knew this forum would be helpful. I feel like I am walking around the zeiss showroom in here sometimes, enjoying the wonderful images from everyone!
Tccin3d - that's all a large part of why I moved from a 6d to a7r, I was only using MF lenses and this body makes it easier, despite the adapter.
Cyra - that is hugely helpful, thank you. I have previously owned the 35/1.4 ZE and, amazing as it was, I never really bonded with it. My lack of ability at how best to use it probably, but I didn't enjoy it so much.
You've definitely swayed me towards 25/2.8 if I can find one. It is a 24/25mm I want ideally and I have other options for closer shooting. It'd be great to see any images, especially with mid/long distance scenes but I'm also interested to see just how it is at 1-2 metre environmental portrait sort of length.
I'm still going to stay with ZE, despite not having a canon body. I hope I never regret that but having a common adapter type is really handy.
Love the shots too, the stone gate and the two snow scenes are my favourite. The 28/2 looks very nice but definitely different. More vignetting, centre sharpness, a somber tone somehow? I like it, I'll have to buy them all someday!

Lillehammer is one of my favourite towns in Norway. And I was really lucky with autumn colours and light! It is a nice place to grow up!

I would say that Leica R 28/2.8 v2 would be reasonable good choice. Not that there is anything much better. My personal fav is 28/2 C/Y, but Im not sure its for everyone. I just like way it renders things. Not much fond of new variant in form of ZF/ZE etc.
