uscmatt99 - Great to see ZM + GXR combo here. I like the 'time lapse'. BW is very nice.
anthonysemone - Congrats on the ZF 100. NIce shot of your dog. I warn you that you will be really pleased when you shoot with base ISO, you may stop shooting in high ISO. I did. I rarely go above base 200 these days.
Picture This - Gorgeous shot !!
thanks for the info. I'll set it up that way. I've no experience with Zeiss lenses whatever, so I've got a learning curve to climb, I'm sure Any and all help, I appreciate a whole bunch.
Emma is retired as a service dog for abused kids, scared kids, the dying and the soon to die, as well as for old folks like me (I expect I'm in that latter category)
Wow, only a few hours sleep, and the thread has some outstanding shots!!!
Akul, thanks again! That ZE21 shot is amazing! Great composition! To answer your question, I am shooting currently with an M6 classic and 2 Zeiss Ikon.
Liquidpics, thank you!
Uscmatt99, love the second shot. How do you like the GXR so far?
Anthonysemone, congrats! Lovely photo of Emma!
Picture this! Wow!
Bob Israel, beautiful colors and composition. Love the portrait #2 and the sun reflection in #3.
Picture This, Bob, Jim, Edward - Thank you so much.
anthonysemone- Don't get me wrong, D700 has amazing low light capability which I love. However, what I have noticed was that I would still lose quite a bit of detail by noise in high ISO shots. As the quality you get from base ISO is so nice, I got addicted to trying to achieve that 'look'. Instead of using high ISO, I ended up using tripods and longer exposure more and more. ( Of course this would limit the subjects you can shoot )
Bob - Great color series. I especially like your #1 and #2. # 1 for its simple composition and the stunning color, #2 for the wonderful tone and gorgeous bokeh on the portrait. Very nice portrait.
Jim - This sculpture was in the atrium of a recently renewed 'Seaport Museum / Museum of City of New York' in the Fulton Market area ( downtown NYC). The way how the artist did ( I did not get the name ) was very nice that it had minimal rigging so it felt like there was a myst in the air, but actually they were numerous fishing weights ( I think ) catching afternoon sun.
Edward - M6 and 2 Ikons. Mmm, sounds very nice. They must be a beautiful piece of industrial design works using real metals.
Tony : very nice first Zeiss shots!
2 nd one has a really nice Zeiss rendering
and Emma is a wonderful dog (golden retriever?)
I'm sure you'll keep the 100MP
Greggf - Thanks and nice series of images yourself!
BTW - I know some folks here also post to Flickr. I created a new group callled Zeiss (For the love of Zeiss). Reason being is I wanted a group on Flickr where it is easy to share images. No specific labeling required! I found this to be a great hassle on flickr and it's much easier to simply state your lens and body. So, if you're interested, feel free to post here: Zeiss (For the Love of Zeiss)
We can have discussions in this group as well but the idea was to show off our zeiss glass!
Thank you Liquid! But the leaf shot was with the ZE35 1.4, while the one of Mason was with the ZE 50 1.4 Planar. I love the 35(duh!!), but I'm still not too sure about the planar, yet. My problem is, I have a 50L that is really sharp wide open(1.2), and matches the planar stopped down! It almost has that Zeiss look, too, just not quite??!! I'm kinda torn between the 2, and whilst I would live to keep both, I need to scale down, just a little😞
Gregg
Gregg- That's the 50 1.4 Planar?!?! You really make that lens work! Geeze, it just goes to show you what a good photographer can do with a given lens! As far as getting used to it...looks like you got a handle on it for sure.
rji2goleez- love the clarity in your shots! I joined your group (focuslightstudio)
Thank you Liquid. The 50Planar is not known for its wide open performance, but every now and again it does pretty well, but it is much much better from f2 and smaller. Hence my hesitation in keeping it. I tend to be a "wide open" junky, and my other lenses-24Lii, ZE 35 1.4, 50L, 100MP, and 70-200 2.8ii are all stellar wide open!!!
But I really like the Zeiss look of the 50 Planar......go figure!!
