Awesome shot, Jim! Just perfect! Care to share some details?
Thanks.
Found the bottle in a cow field buried in mud.Brought it home and cleaned it up.
As for lighting it was actually a pretty simple set up.Black Poster board background and then i used my 430 EX with a home made snoot and off camera shoe cord, holding the flash directly above the bottle pointing it down into the top of the bottle.I was kinda surprised at how well it worked.

What did you put the bottle on? The flash doesn't seem to have illuminated the ground at all, which made it hard to work out the light source
Its on a dark wood table. It did illuminate it a bit and i was able to hide it somewhat with shadow and exposure adjustments.

Cool. I thought the bottle had been frozen when I first saw it.
Hi guys, it seems like my 35 1.4 has suffered CA quite a lot. Also when capturing some lighting sources (noel tree with lights), it has too many 'ghost' especially in close / medium distance. Is this normal and how to fix is ? Thank you very much.
Lieutenant - I did not see your post when I posted. Very nice capture. I like the light of the #1, but really like the texture on the #2
frezeiss - Well, short answer is no. From Nikon, I have 24-70, 70-200, AFD 501.4, AI-S 105/f2, AI'd 55 micro f3.5. I saved up for 85G, but it has been out of stock forever at B&H. Actually when I went to B&H two weeks ago, decision was between ZF 35 1.4, and the Imported version of 85G. (That was probably part of the reason why I was compelled to 'justify' my decision on picking up 35/1.4. ) If they had genuine USA version, I was going to get the 85G instead. As I already have 35/f2, it was the logical choice. However, I was not willing to do the Import version, and I did not want to wait for 85G any more, as I already waited for a year. Store sample of 85G I tried was really a good lens, and one day, I might get that lens. However, if the rumored 85 1.8G comes out early next year, and if it is as good as the 50 1.8G's recent reputation, then I might just get the 1.8G for AF....Show more →
So whats your brief impression of the 85 G compared to say, 100 MP? Does it render vibrantly like Zeiss for example..
I had the 50 1.8 G, it was very competent but not special, I'm liking more the shots from the Nokton 58 1.4..Anyways, having AF once in while is nice

dbherens, really love your shot ^.
Great composition, contrast, color. Well done!
Thanks Lt Z for your kind comments. What amazes me about this lens is that so little needs to be done in post processing. Usually all I need to do is click lens profile correction in ACR.
BTW - speaking of great composition that is a great shot with the Stella Artois cup!
Bob - I really like those, most especially the last.
Joakim - your Swedish Christmas weather looks exactly like Dallas Christmas weather today.
So many good things on this page -- Reza, that is a fantastic shot. D. Behrens - a great cityscape. And Lientenant Z - both are wonderful, but especially the second.
