Just a few more from the unseasonably freezing weekend at The Wakodahatchee Wetlands. Nothing too special here, I was just happy to be out shooting again after a long hiatus!
This is a very nice selection Omar! Yes that is a Great Egret. The last GBH is showing its mating colors on the beak, that lovely blue. Great job on the exposure on the stork! A lovely series.
Nicely done Omar, except #2 is noisy. Yes #7 is a great white Egret. For some reason those GBH's think the blend in to the surroundings when they don't sometimes.
Hang on, Omar. The warm weather is coming. Nice set of images! Hard to tell it is Florida, though, except for the typical wetlands habitat . Good control of the exposure of the whites and fine job with detail. You may want to think to use some NR on the background as a clean bg gives a better sense of sharpness #5 is on top of my favorites and, yes, the last one has a special feel

Every now & then I do this & if this bothers you - please just let me know & I'll remove it - OK
You have a nice set & you ended up with sad weather. That makes the photos out of a digital camera very gray hazy often..... So I find that it helps a lot to set Black & White points on the shots. Some think of this as levels - but you actually tell the program what's the darkest & lightest in the individual photo.
So in order to show you what I mean - I downloaded one if your photos, I chose the Wood stork as I don't get any here. I've in NX2 set B&W points & then run NR in CS3 - - just to give you an idea....

Good job Omar. I like the last one as well. The nice colors and the framing from the leaves and branch.

Thankyou Quang, Gary, Sevan, & Socrate...(see my next reply below regarding the NR)

Lil, that's great what you did with the image (I don't mind at all)! I don't usually do too much NR until I fine-tune an image for printing. However, I'm having another issue (currently). I recently got myself a 27" Mac...and although the computer is superfast & the huge screen is fantastic, I only have DPP to run on Mac. I like DPP for fast & dirty conversions but it's really not suited for NR. I don't have (yet) any other editing software for Canon Raw to run on the Mac. Your quick re-do of the levels & the NR really makes it shine, thanks!
Omar.
Thats a neat place indeed, seems little known on F/M-i have been there once. A question for Lil-do you set both black and white points at once? , i have done that, as you have said , and got real high contrast images with blown whites? Whow about setting the gray, if the image has such?
Cheers

Thanks Harry & yes, It doesn't seem to be as well known as some other sites.
