Anyone think Canon will be releasing new telephotos for the 2010 Olympics?
We already know the 1D mark 4 will be making a appearance at the games, which are scheduled to start in 37 days. Along with the new 70-200 F2.8 II IS will they be alone or will there be some new white friends for it to play with?
Like:
Canon 300mm F2.8 IS II
Canon 400mm F2.8 IS II
Canon 500mm F4 IS II
Canon 600mm F4 IS II
I'm thinking the winter games might not have as much of a need for huge glass as its mostly skiing type of events where you could get close enough with a 70-200. Then again I'm no Olympic photographer.
2010 olympics?.....aren't next one is 2012 ? .... It would be nice for a 100-400L IS II (well like above said 2.8 will be nice..anything above or equal to 4 will be nice).

Yes, 2010 winter olympics in Vancouver. The next summer one is in 2012.
I voted no, but at the Olympics I bet there will be in use some new lens(prototypes) that will be tested by the professionals but will not say as they will have signed NDAs.
No. It's too late to announce now for the Olympics. The 70-200 is supposed to be available in March - and considering the time it takes to put the super teles together, I'm guessing if anything was announced now, it'd be March or April before we'd see one.

They could easily have prototypes in the hands of shooters for the Olympics. General availability to the public doesn't apply here.

I agree and are people really prepared to see the prices of any new superteles; they would be near Nikon's insane/absurd/ridiculous prices
canon needs to focus on their budget "L"s,re-vamp the line up to include more affordable glass, and start with the non "L"s like re-doing
EF 20mm
EF 24mm
EF 35mm
EF 50mm
update the glass coatings for DSLR use and USM
800.00 for a 17-40L is outragous they used to go for 550-600 NEW
I would say big possibilities, Nikon released 300/F2.8 mk II not while ago? Than, yes it will be released soon with new IS and =>40% higher price tag. That is what Canon does lately ...

Not to mention the proverbial 28/1.8 USM.
I don't expect that they will, but they could easily do a group update of the 20/2.8, 28/1.8, and 50/1.4 USM lenses.
