I have a friend that has an Xsi that just blew a shutter at about 25,000 actuation's. Has anyone had a shutter replaced on this model and what was the cost?
I have had shutters replaced in 1DSM2 and 1DS but never an entry level camera. I am a CPS member but the Xsi does not qualify in this program.
Your friend should check out the Canon Customer Loyalty Program. He could get a 50D for around $625, plus shipping and tax or a XS for $360, plus tax and shipping. Your friend can call 866-443-8002 or 800-828-4040 to get started. All that's needed is the camera serial number. They also have deals with kit lenses as well. I suspect the shutter repair is around $300 to $350.
