We spent a few days in Northern Germany on the North Sea coast. My parents have had a house there since I was a child and the area is like a second home to me. The weather was pretty bad while we were there but we had one evening with beautiful colour.
This was shot from the summer dike looking inland. I had hoped the water would pick up the colour more but it didn't. The trees are really that bent because of the prevailing strong winds.
Thanks for looking.
Ute
Lots of elements to keep me interested in this shot. The light is beautiful, and It leaves me wondering what the remains on the right are from. Of course a nice reflection never hurts either!

Next to where I was standing is an old small lock gate that controls the water flow at low tide. The wood is part of the bank.

Nice shot. It reminds me of a visit I made there some 12 years ago when my daughter taught at a school in Tossens.
Looking forward to any other shots you may have.
A beautiful scene , Ute , with lovely vibrant colours and your signature muted and atmospheric foreground detail . The sort of shot that makes you forget the frustrations of wet , wind and gloom !
In this day and age of "super dynamic range", HDR, etc, it is very refreshing to see an image made with the mystery of a dark foreground and silhouetted trees. The hint of warm detail on the grasses LLH corner adds an exquisite touch. The colors and exposure, perfect. Beautiful image Ute!!
If only we lived closer. This image makes me want to get on a plane and fly out to see
you. An Ute classic...can't wait to show it to Jan. I love the soft fg clarity and the silhouette
look Jose remarked about. Just beautiful.

There are times when dark & silhouette express the mood/environment and don't look more appealing by trying to lift the shadows. This is one of them.
There is a nice balance with the color/light and the shadows, gives it a natural feel.
Thanks for posting.
