p.1 #1 · Box Canyon - Riparian Autumn...

...For lack of a better title.

Hey guys...

I went back to the Upper Sacramento River, Cantara Loop area today. Although it had snowed 6 - 9 inches in Mt. Shasta City since my last post of this location, the snow didn't make it to the canyon floor. A few people who commented on my last set of images had interest in seeing more of the plants from this region as subject matter. I got to tell you... It was harder than I thought. Although I am pleased with the outcome of this shoot I don't really feel that a did justice to the riparian autumn foliage that I set out to capture. The mossy cliffs and beautiful water kept me pretty well distracted from concentrating on the colorful foliage around the waters edge. But, hey... There's always tomorrow! I love living 4 miles away from this location.

21 vertical frames stacked & stitched, 3 rows top to bottom each containing 7 frames, each shot at ISO 100, 50mm, f/11, .5s

8.2mp X 21 frames = 172.2mp but each frame over laps by about 1/3 (yes, that much. I find it makes the stitching go easier by over lapping that much when you shoot.) So I'd say this is roughly the equivalent of a 114.2mp image.

Here's en unaltered 100% crop taken from somewhere around the center of the image.

Thanks for looking everyone -

C&C always welcome and greatly appreciated.

Wow - thanks for going back and this is only 4 miles from your house? I am more than slightly jealous.

#3 is the image scenery I asked you about in earlier shots given the very interesting contrasts of the gray rocks and the contrasts of greens between the moss and the foliage and this is easily in the ball park for the stuff I love heading up the Columbia Gorge to seek out. I would be in hog heaven with that so close at hand.

Please keep playing with that locale - I can see over a dozen mini scenes within shots #3 alone.

Thanks for the followup.

Thanks Alan, I appreciate the comment.

This place is actually overwhelming with compositions and subject material. I'll be returning to this spot soon when I have more time to spend down there. I only had about 40 minutes for this shoot and the last post I did of this place was even shorter... Thanks again Alan.

The 2nd is very nice and I really love the 3rd....wonderful study in structure, texture and myriad shades of green. Nicely done, Tim.

Thanks Barry,

This place has sooo many different textures everywhere you look that it's hard to focus on one.
