Hello alt rebel shooters, I'm thinking of getting a T1i or XSi to use with my little Oly's for a light, compact travel kit. My main concern with the Rebel series is the small viewfinder and lack of manual focus screen. My question is: does anybody know of any manual focus screen modifications for the rebel? Or maybe I'm just too worried about it and it's not that bad. Let me know.
I believe if you check E-bay you'll find a number of Chinese vendors selling MF screens for the Rebels. All of them (katzeye included I believe) are taking MF screens for 35mm film cameras and machining them down to fit. I have a katzeye for my XTi and it is very nice but the Chinese ones are significantly cheaper and I think many people are happy with them.
I tried the ebay chinese screens for my 40D and 5D. Let's just say I ended up with the Canon Ef-S and Ee-S in the end. I also have used a Katzeye Optibrite (purchased on FM) for both a 350D and 20D. I feel the ebay generic ones are worse than the stock screen and were a complete waste of money. YMMV
