p.1 #1 · what a sky!

Well, this is the last installment from my weekend with Ed,
the skly ws starting to turn, with many varied cloud types.
it started off with some fluffy ones, then progressed to the higher sirrus clouds, then rain clouds

both of these shots where with my new 14-24mm nikon lens, a real joy to behold and use. though iam still waiting for my new focus screeen to arrive.

this sky, for mwe screamed BW, hope you aggree
this first image was shot at 14mm, i was about 3ft from the post in front of me. F11 iso100 125th sec. has had a slight crop off the bottom.

this image was again at 14mm, i was about 10ft in front of the mill shooting staright up. of note, look at how straight that lower horizon line is, no lens correction needed!
i think 5.6 iso 100 80th sec.

thanks for looking and i hope youhave enjoyed Ed`s and my grand tour

Fantastic shots. I really like your B&W conversion on these. I like how virtually all of the elements in the first shot all converge to the windmill. The perspective on the second shot is great.

I love that second shot, excellent contrast between mill, sails sky and clouds, and an intriguing perspective. Hard to imagine this was only 10 feet away, you must have had to clone out your toes from the bottom!

Hey Simon,

Looks like the 14-24mm did you good! I really like both shots, and I agree, they scream B&W. My favorite here is #2. I really like the simplicity of it.

Wow these are both great shots. I really love the first one though, I think the composition is perfect and the b&w works excellent with it, just wish I could get my b&w conversions to turn out half that good .

Hi, Simon.

Really cool shots. Wonderful compostion on that first one. Love the way the cloud on the right seems to be in a holding pattern, while the upper clouds whiz by. Makes for a very interesting image. Love the perspective on the second. Almost looks like the mill is getting sucked into the chaotic sky above.

Finished with my work here this afternoon. Headed back first thing in the morning. Thanks again for all your efforts.

Cheers,
Ed

Really well done photo's.
I recently went through Moose Petersen's website and saw his photo's with the 14-24 and just how sharp that lens is.
your photo's really show off that sharpness and I like how the horizon is straight.
Great lens and super shots here.
BTW from what I understand, Lee Filters is bringing out a filter holder for this lens.

great images. i just got this lens and am still seeing how to make it 'work'. my wife doesn't like the linear distortion at 14mm though...i've mostly been using the lens at close range where the effects are most evident. i just haven't been anywhere interesting since i got it!

Just beautiful Simon - great comps. and top notch conversions. I really enjoy the first. The sticks and grass lead me to the mill and the stunning cloud above just fits perfectly.
