I use EOSinfo for my 40D. My understanding was that it would work with any camera Digic 3 or newer, so you could try it. Free to download, and it was great to really know how many clicks my 40D had.

EOSinfo does NOT appear to work with Windows XP and the 7D combination.

Perhaps there is another utility?

I will admit I have not tried it on the 7D but this works on the 5D2 and 50D both of which are Digic IV processors.

Carefully follow the install instructions with regard to location of files or it will not work.
