Welcome.
Nice post of a really cute kid.
Suggestion: the optimum distance for a portrait is normally from 6-10 feet from the subject. Anything closer and you get distortion (if that's what you want, then fine). Getting close and using a wide-angle makes the distortion worse.
Here it looks like you're so close that the child's eyes have to look inward to focus on the camera's lens. (if it's other than that- I surely mean no offense.)
I'd like to see the hands, also.
My comments are made in the friendliest of ways.

Charlie has provided you with great feedback regarding the focal distance, etc.
I can only add that it looks a bit blown out, likely from flash. Her shirt and face need dialing back.
Having said that, the moment and expression you caught in this little dolly are wonderful!

The distortion was on purpose as I had just gotten hold of a wide-angle and was having some fun with it. Note taken on the hands though!
No flash was used on this shot. There's a huge window on camera left providing light. The colored version is actually properly exposed...I guess I overdid the PP and got too excited with the slider. Will dial it back and see what i get.
Can anyone point me to some dos and donts when it comes to B&W processing??
