Thank you for your kind & thoughtful words in regards to Marahute. I know he's waiting for us in our backyard in another place - with other pets we've lost - we will all be together again one day.

you are probably right about the Mandarin ducks. They do however exist in the wild in a few locations in the US. There are a few spots in So. Calif. where they reside in the wild. It is in one of these locations I have photographed these. If at a duck breeder I would for sure have informed you that they were captive. These are not. And in order to protect the birds I do not wish to write out where they're located here.

Thank you for your kind words in regards to Marahute. He sure was a character all of his own. We know he can't be replaced & we will not replace him. He will live in our hearts forever.

I know how much it hurts...I lost 2 parrots while I was a teen and I cried like hell

On the good side ur #2 mandarin shot is the best I've seen around here!! jus tblew me away completely

I've lost a few parrots over the years. But all as a young girl. Marahute was with us for just about 18 years. I swear I heard him messing with the cages this morning.........

It's still very surreal to all of us. But we will get past it in time.

Sorry about your loss. I can relate in a way because last year we lost one of our beloved dogs (a Basenji named Rocco) about 1/2 way though his expected life span. Definitely a shock and tough to recover from. Again, very sorry.

Nice duck pics by the way, they're all beautiful, the colors are amazing!

we're hanging in there. But we're still crying off and on. It's hard on Ross, Marahute & he were so close. We'll get past it, but it's still rather surreal....

I'm sorry about your dog. I've been there many times with dogs & a few cats. The price for having them in our lives. It's very hard to stay with them I know. I've done it many times unfortunately. I'm proud of you for doing it. But I will not desert them in their hour of need.

it was horrible & it made my poor husband howl while crying. That bird was so dear to him....... We're all still rather in shock over the whole thing...

So sorry that you lost your beloved friend. My wife and I are blessed to have a parrot as part of our family. So I can understand how beart breaking it must be to have this happen. Thanks for sharing the photos of the ducks and the photo of your friend. Before I looked at what you wrote, my wife (sitting beside me) said "LOOK HOW SWEET" when she saw you bird. Until you have a parrot as part of your family, I think you could never understand the lose. We both really feel bad for you and your husband.

parrots are so special. We miss him so. There's a huge empty hole in my heart now. He can't be replaced. He was special....
