p.1 #1 · The ever-so-popular NYC

My first time to visit as an adult. I love street photography, so this was a very special trip for me.

You capture the grit of New York City quite well! the images in your blog are also very nice. I like your wedding photos also, they have an organic feel that I find appealing!

There are some exceptional images in the series - thanks for giving us more on the blog. Loved:
the guy selling Nuts,
the smiling girl talking to her friend as another girl goes by,
the girl grabbing her boyfriend's behind as she kisses him,
and the one here - the guy talking on his cellphone in the grilled area... is fabulous.

It's a wonder some of these people didn't challenge you. It takes a brave, confident - in you space/face attitude to do this. It leaves us with a study in human behavior. Wonderful. Thanks!

Thanks very much for the cool comments, you two!

It really does take a bit of confidence/no fear attitude to point a camera and lens in these people's faces, but 90% of them didn't seem to mind or even realize what I was doing. Thanks for looking!

I really like this set. A lot of people who post black-and-white pictures of NYC are trying to make it look like "old" New York...these capture the modern city with the feeling of the old city. Nicely done.

Did you shoot these with a full-size SLR? Good candids, if so...and somewhat brave to go to 145th St with expensive gear...

Thanks, Adam...I was just trying to capture events as I saw them unfolding. I used a D700 to shoot all these shots. I stayed near 145th street and had no problems with hauling me gear around. Though, I wasn't too flashy about it

I know nothing of street photography, though I'll learn more in the weeks to come. What lens(es) are you using? #5 does it for me. Really nice work, sir.

Thanks, Tony. What will you be doing to learn more in the weeks to come?
For #5 I used the Sigma 50/1.4
I used 4 lenses for all these shots: 24,35,50,180

hitting the local streets and taking pictures of whatever catches my eye; I've also been reading as much as I can find on the web by folks who are already very accomplished at it. Keep up the good work..
