Hi everyone. I'm seting up a shootout in L.A for this Friday and I'm thinking about doing it at L.A River. I tried to drive there today but traffic was killer so I ended up not finding it.

Does any one here have any insights on this location? Where the best place to set up or meet? What's a cool spot? Thanks for your help in advance.

I don't know much about the cannel itself, or specific areas to shoot in it. But heading north on the 605 coming from the 405, there is El Dorado Park off East Spring street. You can park there and cruise east to get down in the river area and have the park itself to cruise through for additional photo opportunities. Sorry i can't offer much more help.

What are you looking for, there are 'natural' areas around Burbank and the 134 and there are channelized areas south of that. Are you shooting ducks or graffiti?

Contact the city department responsible for the river and ask about access points.

Great ideal Steady. I'll try that. Hopefully they don't tell me that it's restricted area.

...actaully, I'm pretty sure it's restricted. I'll try anyways.

If you are thinking bout downtown/urban the entire river is restricted but it's doable as long as you are willing to get the permit thru FilmLA. You may have to also clear it with whoever controls the actual river, could be DWP but I have a feeling its the Army Corps of Engineers as they are in charge of the dams..in that case they need 2 to 4 weeks to permit a location.
There used to be a way in under the 5th or 7th street bridge (?) but I think that is locked up now, It won't be too long before the helicopter spots you so don't plan on bootlegging that location!
