p.1 #1 · How long should you be expected to support a sold camera?
Sold my 5D recently and I'm wondering how long I would be expected to pay for a blown shutter or something similar? The camera was in excellent condition when I sold it and I have no concerns about it's quality, but there's always bad luck and I guess I would be expected to make a repair if something went wrong within a month or so of the sale?
Any thoughts on this issue? I've never sold something as expensive as the 5D, so I've just been wondering.
p.1 #2 · How long should you be expected to support a sold camera?
I would say if the camera functions perfectly on arrival, that would be the end of your "liability". However, you can, as a courtesy, extend it to 3 days or even a week for the buyer to try it out and I would limit the number of actuations to, let's say, around 500 or so.
p.1 #4 · How long should you be expected to support a sold camera?
I would agree with AGeoJO and say 3-5 days and 500 actuations. Put yourself in a buyers situation....and treat them as you would want to be treated. Of course, within reason.

It's good to place yourself in the 'shoes' of the buyer but making a used purchase is always a risk and any buyer (& seller) should know the pitfalls. I would generally agree it's 'good faith & Karma' to offer (for example) a 3-day test period to make sure all the functions are working...there could always be an issue that was not apparent to you but was noticed by the buyer. However, if after three days no problems have surfaced (or the buyer hasn't taken the time to test it) then I'd say your good conscience should be clean. Of course, all this assumes that the seller has also acted in good faith and has disclosed the true history & use of the camera. For those not interested in 'good faith & Karma', your responsibility ends upon delivery as long as the camera is not DOA.
It should be noted that shutters are rated by Canon for actuations yet are NOT covered past the initial warranty period no matter how low the actuations are.

Describe it carefully and warrant it to be only as you described it--I would not give anyone more than three days after receipt to contact me about any problems. There is no way you can guarantee its future.

I am wondering why you are asking is the person grumbling? But imo if it was good when you sent it I would say if he hadn't complained about it in a couple days well then you should be ok. A lot can happen in a few days and who knows how the new owner treated the camera
