p.1 #1 · Did I miss something?

I just got Nikon's GPS unit for my D3/D3x. I was shooting in Zion NP and wanted to use the GPS and Cable Release at the same time - can't as far as I've researched - same 10-pin connector. Am I missing something? Would a Y cord allow similtanious use? Who makes one?

I wish I could answer your question

But I am curious...is the GPS unit worth the money?

Duh Jason...read the manual. Appears MC-DC2 release will work as plug-in to GP-1. Thanks monochrome.

I got the the GP-1 with credit card points. It's nice to use with NX2 since it links to Google earth directly and shows your shot location.

I don't think it's a hassle. It has a clip attachment for your camera strap so you don't have to use the hotshoe.

Seem very accurate. It does drain the battery more quickly and takes about 10-30 seconds to capture a satallite depending where your located. Example - takes longest to aquire inside my home.

So once its captured a satellite you can just go and shoot?

Or does it have to relocate it every now and then

Yes, turning the camera off and on makes the recapture happen again.

I think a GPS would be great when you're way out in the boonies. I liked to have one next year if I can get my Southwest trip going.
