p.1 #1 · Honeybee on Lavender

I often have a tough time shooting honeybees feeding on lavender flowers -just too much stuff that can get between me and the subject that's going to be out of focus. But taking the magnification up to 3x is one way to eliminate a lot of the foreground. Baited with corn syrup so she'd let me get close. I took the shot on the 5th of September.

Tech specs: Canon 40D (F13, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens (@3x) + a diffused MT-24EX (-1 1/3 FEC).

nicely done,I take it the shadow area on the eye was cast by the antennae?

Thanks GillR and Michael

The shadow on the eye is from the antenna Michael -nearly got robbed by the antenna on this scene. Had to delete a few frames where it crossed the eye, and I didn't get a shot where the two antenna are symmetrical.
