Very impressing! Do you have any first hand experience of the 400F5.6L and how it compare to the Tele-Apotessar?

Nice! I just bought a "brand new in box" one that was never opened. Will be going for conversion next week.

I see you are shooting your 5D2 at ISO 100. This is actually not the optimum ISO, which is 200. You lose some dynamic range at 100, it is like "pulling" film. You might see even more enjoyable results at 200.

I think you got ripped off.. the exif says 403mm. Must be some cheap knockoff.

Kidding aside, can you share some 100% crops? Never heard of this lens before,

Hi,

I am too new here to have yet registered to post photos. There have, however, been several threads on LL and GetDPI about this, by more technically oriented people than I. According to them, ISO 200 is the "native" sensitivity of the 5D2 sensor. ISO 100 is offered for those situations where slower shutter speeds are needed, but is actually slightly (remember, slightly) less in dynamic range.

What I personally can say--I began shooting ISO 200 after reading these threads and saw no difference in noise from ISO 100 or any image degradation whatsoever even in 200% views. My landscape images often push DR to the limit, and there was, at the least, no loss. So, 200 is my "new" 100 (I used to shoot Velvia). I used to print 20x30 custom cibachromes from my film so max quality is always the touchstone for my photos. The extra stop of speed is most welcome.

100 is native for the 5D-II and optimum according to DxO and every other measurment I've seen. 50 is pull and loses (a little) DR. I use 50 when I need to use flash outdoors and when I need more water movement from a slower shutter, I see no ill effects.

200 is native for the D700 and most Nikon DSLR's.
