p.1 #1 · A few from the Cuyahoga Valley

Hi all, don't post here too often but I've shot a couple landscapes recently so I wanted to share. Let me know what you guys think and what I could improve on. Shot with a hodge podge of gear, Minolta Maxxum 3xi, Sony Alpha digital kit lens, 6 years expired Kodak Supra 100, and the worlds worst sunpak tripod, scanned on a flatbed scanner.

The 3rd is a nice shot.....you've captured some nice fall colors in that one. I'd probably crop enough off the top to get rid of the 'white' sky, but a nice shot overall.

Compare the last one to the first. Notice how the last is a much 'simpler' composition. Though including something of interest in the foreground is frequently a good idea, the foreground of the first is pretty busy, and tends to look more like clutter. I suspect if you'd gone to the other ('front') end of that island of clutter, you could have included a rock or2 for foreground interest and still captured a good bit of the fall color downstream that is almost a bit too distant to carry the weight it could.

There's something strange going on in the 2nd.....the rock formations and tree trunks seem to have an unflattering purple cast. It's a nice composition, but my simpleminded self has trouble getting past the color.

Looking at the second now, I am have second thoughts about the color and composition. Thank you for your comments about foreground. I'll keep them in mind next time I shoot.
