I photographed this gull breaking open its dinner at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Sanctuary here in New York City about a month ago. The sun was breaking out behind me while the clouds from a passing storm departed to the east.

For the last photo the gull almost dropped out of the frame when it released and I barley tracked it so I added cropped off the top and created the bottom in Photoshop. I call this a negative crop as I’m adding to the frame rather than removing.

Comments and suggestions welcome,

Hey Morris this is nice catch (you and the gull) I always watch them doing that down by the Cape Canal and have tried a few time to catch it but with no luck. You did this one very well.
BTW I found a map in my car of the upper Delaware Valley which is not all that far from you. I will try and photograph it for you and if that does not work I can mail it to you if you want. You should get some eagles there and there is several nice blinds from the DEC.
