I have noticed that with the amount of gear I carry with me, and unpack on site, there is the potential for some of it to get mixed up with others. The standard labels are fine for most purposes and a variety of types are available. If you do anything permanent, the resale value will be affected. If you get some stuff that leves goo and you have to use solvent to get it off, it will hurt your resale value too as that stuff leaves marks. I printed them using white text on a black background to use on lens hoods/flashes, and black text on white for lenses and bodies. I'm not too sure how they will hold up, but Ill give it a go. Maverick labels are the best approach I've found. http://www.mavericklabel.com/id-my-stuff.html Small, black and a variety of sizes, including one that is only 1/8" tall that is meant for sunglasses, but works extremely well on the base of lenses (just above the mount). Similar to gaffers tape, they don't leave any residue when peeled off. You get three lines of info - name, phone number, email address. $10 for a sheet of 24 (different sizes) cheaper if you order more than one.
