Busy, sharp background is distracting. It is overly interesting and draws attention away from the model. Her shirt is blown out. Facial expression reminds me of when my wife gives me the 'you are so clueless' look. The body stance only enhances that feeling. This women could benefit from a changed venue and posing that is more, may i dare say, inviting....paul

Your instincts are razor sharp. It is my wife and she was giving me a "I am fed up now, you have taken a hundred pictures and I am scared of rattlesnakes so lets go home" look.

No rescuing this pic then eh?

Since I am often humbly reminded of my own limitations, especially when prognosticating, I would not naysay. There could be ways to rescue this. My approach would be the scientific method- bumbling around. Try B&W conversion +/or tight crop +/ background blur etc. You never know. Besides it's all a learning exercise, anyway. The artistic version of 'it it doesn't kill you it will make you stronger'. Trying to work this through can help your next photo shoot...kind of ' I am not going to do it that way again'. It's part of how I grope/learn....paul

The pose alone is a killer. It is the
kind of snap I would print and place
on the night stand and fondly remind
the wife that she still looks beautiful
even when she is giving you attitude.

She will dig you for that and secretly
you can stop using her as a model.
I bet she will also give less 'tude in
the future.

PS. Paul you have a fascinating view
of art.

It seems you didn't marry an exhibitionist. Serious mistake for a photographer. At least there are landscapes, sports and tabletops. Better luck with children?

Auntipode - 4 year old, will pose for chocolate.
Kaden - Suspect the 'tude comes with familiarity (or possibly a law degree), she was very compliant with our wedding photographer, but he was phenomenal and could get a great pose from anyone and everyone.
Paul - I dont like to naysay, however from a purely pragmatic view it doesnt seem efficient to pursue this. But I may try the B&W conversion.
