I always keep all CF/SD cards and the external HD with me all the time, in case if my gear get damage/lost/stolen, I still have the image - which sometime worth even more than the gear itself, plus more so when the insurance will cover the lost.

I just post as a reminder - for myself, as well as for some "green" photographers that just too excited with their first few assignments and forget what's lurking behind them.

Thats a fact.
A friend of mine was shooting an engagement session last week in Downtown Charleston, and left his bag 20 feet from him and poof....
gone.
All he has left is the camera, lens and flash he was using.
70-200-2 ex430's, PWs, batteries, chargers, and CF cards... never to be seen from again....
Personally, besides a light stand, if I cant carry it, or have my assistant carry it, It doesn't go.
It sucks... Hopefully I will never have to deal with that....
