Tried something new with the blur.
I kind of like it (well, enough to post this shot anyhow!).

Kind of a spooky feel.

Hey Tim,

I'm always down for new things, but I don't think it works here. The blur just distracts. Take away the blur and you have yourself a nice b/w shot

I like the composition, but my sometimes too logical brain is uncomfortable with the blur, I keep wanting to make my eyes focus. Just curious, what if you reversed the blur bottom to top?

I like the shot Tim. Kind of a Lensbaby thing. I would prefer a more centralized sharpness, segueing out to the blur. I'm looking forward to more of these.

I feel it needs another element to it, maybe a ghostly figure disappearing behind a tree. Full marks for trying something different though

The blur has transformed this bucolic image into a disturbing one.

It is an odd and somewhat ghostly effect. I like the lighting on the ground and dont mind the blur, although it takes me to a bit of a dreamy, possibly nightmarish space. But the focused branches in the upper image just dont work for me with the blur.

Interesting experiment, Tim.
Makes me want to break out my Lensbaby again and see what I can come up with, but its always been miss or occasional hit with me.

Thank you, everyone, for your generous feedback and ideas. A lot to consider and experiment with. Essentially got the idea from some of the people and wedding shooters who use the tilt-shift. I wasn't a fan at first, but have slowly grown to appreciate the look. (Ha! About the time some are burning out on it!)
I am inspired to work at it a bit and see what can develop.

I still like the effect when it is used on the right subject as you have here. I think the image has a lot of possibilities. You could do a blurred and darkened vignette to give a tunnel vision effect. Or darken the whole scene to make it look like twilight.Have fun experimenting.
