p.1 #1 · Ireland - Sunset

Here is a photo I captured in Ireland a few weeks ago. The colors are dramatic - wondering whether it is too "surreal"? I combined two exposures together - one for the sky / mountains and one for the lake.

Any comments / feedback would be appreciated.

I'm sure some will probably see it as over the top, but I think it is a very nice balance.

works for me. It's a touch garish, but it works.

Hi - I have seen some spectacular sunsets on fishing trips to Ireland. The photo captures them well! Its a bit strong but still very evocative of the evenings in that fabilous country. The "duckfly" sunsets are also spectacular - usually March/April (your local flyfisher can tell you when!) - be interesting to capture those and compare.

Its a bit over the top in terms of the "accuracy" of the capture, but works well on artisitic merit. I like and I think the non-photographer public would really go for it.

Thanks again for the positive feedback. I tend to lean towards the artistic interpretation of a specific scene. The human eye does not allow for such a dramatic interpretation - that's the beauty of photography. It allows the photographer to create his / her own view of the scene.

And yes, the non-photographer public loves this type of shot. They are not nearly as critical as those with trained eyes but I always strive to produce photos which work for both audiences.

I like the strong colors, although you might try adjusting the color towards a bluer blue part of the sky. You might also try trimming a little off either the left or right side for a slightly more dynamic composition.
