p.1 #1 · Lens CoLLecting Loving Labours

Prompted by a recent thread on lens fungus, I've spent two days inspecting and cleaning my lenses. Good news: no fungal matter to be seen in any.

In the process, I've been reminded all over again that playing with lenses beats picture taking, at least in my books.

White and black redneck piggies nicely marshalled on a dining room table.....giving them my alma mater (google, google google ) attention, one by one.

The superluminosity of 85L.
The genuine plasticity of 24-70L.
The girth and heft of my beloved Chubbylux 200 f/1.8 that just doesn't like to be handheld, and tries to flip and fall. A naughty baby she is.
The felt lined piston whoosh of the 100-400 zooming action.
Cool and deadly metal feel of 180L.
Lanky and elegant 400 f/5.6.

I get so much kick outta cleaning my babies.

Peter, if I remember correctly, there was a recent topic about "Fangus Protection"...not sure I remember anything about fungus though

Omar, in the final analysis, the initial thrust as well as the title of the topic hardly mattered at all, because faster than we could say 'duck' the discussion (d)evolved into a sort of a New Jersey farmers almanach and a microclimate round table.

Like I said, "not sure I remember anything about fungus though"

Oh my...it took you 2 days to clean all your lenses?

If I did it, it probably took 10 min max... I need more lenses

I played with them, then cleaned them a bit, then played some more.....we must take our time with the lenses. That's what I learned from arguably the best lovers on the planet: Italians.

One more thing you forget, go buy hygrometer I am getting one after sucking several gallons of water last week-end out of my lens storage room air.

It's easier to clean lenses if you don't use them.

Haha! I see what you did with that title, PetKal. But you can only get away with that because you don't have for 400 DO (or do you? )

Gary, I like all of my piggies to have red collars.......that whay I can refer to them as "rednecks". Now a green ringed lens would wreak havoc on our little old MacDonalds lens farm and its bucolic ways.

Now Peter you must send those Rednecks to me, all Canadians know or should know Rednecks are only in Alberta, so let them little Piggies have their freedom live in peace with all the other rednecks, we Albertans will look after them honest

You make a powerful argument for the repatriation of my little rednecks, Robert.

Not really a problem, Colin. Seldom shoot overhead pijuns, mostly horizontally panned flights.
