p.2 #1 · Canon takes a little mud

Okay... now THAT is impressive to me. A simple acceptance of the camera equipment as a disposable tool required to do a job. That event must've been a hoot for all involved. The nearly submerged chaps in the mud look to be having the times of their lives Great series. Kudos to the photographer.

Unfortunately for most mere mortals, we are not financially gifted enough like you to consider expensive camera gear as "disposable tools"

I had to shoot an outdoor wedding in a thunderstorm the other day
glad my 1Ds was sealed. I had my 40D hanging on my side but i dared not touch a button until it was DRY
I think rain / water would be worse than "solid" mud..but thats me..

Reminds me of one of my regular gigs, the Vans Warped Tour:

How to cool off:

And these crowds:

I would take mud over beer in my gear any day, the smell lingers long after the wipedown.

The thought of the mud hardening in place sort makes ones stomach turn (those who save their pennies for such equipment).

Just don't let him send that 5D2 to Antarctica--might get wet.

Is that from Canon's version of Ken Rockwell?

as a 5D2 owner, i'd love to see a followup on how long that 5D2 keeps working. place your bets.

My guess is as long as he owns the camera.

Good guess, since he's not likely to own the camera after it quits working.

In fact, he probably doesn't own it NOW (probably owned by his employer).

Seriously, what would be the best way to clean these cameras? As for the Danes, they're all crazy!! (Speaking from genetic experience here!)

I appreciate people that use their tools as tools and not prissy little status symbols. This guy is awesome.

Don't they have plastic bags over there?

It's nice to think that your gear can take a lickin' but, IMHO, that borders on abuse.

Do any of you guys who think that is a cool way to use your Canon bodies want to buy used ones that have been treated this way?

I also noticed the sock hanging out of his jacket, obviously used to mop the mud off the lens' front element. NICE.
