Unfortunately for most mere mortals, we are not financially gifted enough like you to consider expensive camera gear as "disposable tools"
I had to shoot an outdoor wedding in a thunderstorm the other day
glad my 1Ds was sealed. I had my 40D hanging on my side but i dared not touch a button until it was DRY
I think rain / water would be worse than "solid" mud..but thats me..

use some bottled water and pour it over it. it'll be fine i bet.
