Does anyone know of a flash extender that is not so bulky as the better beamer or projecto flash that will work with SB800?

The Better Beamer is the only Flash Extender I have seen and used. I did a search and could not find anything else. I have melted the front of two flashes using the Better beamer. I try not to use it anymore.

I did find this one:

Thanks Adam, I found that one also after posting. How in the world did you melt
the front of your fash unit? I have a project-O flash unit but I got it when I was using Canon flashes and it wont fit my SB800 and its awfully heavy and bulky. May try
the one you found but, now i'm a little skittish about i after what you said..

SB800's melt when you don't let the flash cool enough during shooting. the Better Beamer has nothing to do with the problem.

Not true, If your shooting kind of towrd the sun using fill flash with the beamer, it will act like a magnifying glass and melt the front of your flash. Do a search and you will find many people that have melted the front of there flash with the beamer.

I pretty much agree with Adam. Recently, after shooting birds from the car window, i decieded to quit and head home. By mistake, i hung the camera from the passenger headrest, with flash and beamer installed. My mistake! i always set in on the rear floor. This day, just a little sunlight, thru the frensel lens, set the leather seat on fire. Lesson learned and warning to others. Do not make the same dumb mistake, it happened on an bright overcast day.

... I can see it now in the paper's headlines:
"Better Beamer: Photographer's Tool, or Dangerous Weapon?"

I wonder how many forest fires of "unknown origin" have been started that way?

i have done that and not melted any of my flashes yet. for one thing, i never leave the BB on the flash except when the flash is on the camera and turned on.

All good to know bout the better beamer .. but also ..

be careful with that SB800 .. Nikon grabbed thier 129 bucks from me yesterday, so MAYBE I'm getting mine back tomorrow ... it's been gone over a month waiting on parts in Melville ................ I dropped it on a wooden floor, it came on electronically in back, but wouldn't fire. I also had trouble with the door staying on from the get go ...... so hopefully that is repaired properly too.
