p.1 #1 · New Think Tank Bag

I was browsing the Think Tank site and came upon this. http://www.thinktankphoto.com/news-detail.aspx?title=HUGE+Shoulder+Bag+Released&newsID=10

Looks like they now have a Urban Disguise 70, I may be selling my UD50 to upgrade at some point. What do you guys think of this new bag?

The bag works great. The main advantage IMO is I can have two cameras w/attached lenses (70-200 size) ready to shoot and well protected. I don't carry a laptop when I'm out shooting so I'm glad the compartment space is not wasted.

I'm thinking of upgrading to it mainly for travel when I don't need to take my Airport Acceleration but still need to take more lenses than can fit in the UD50 along iwth my computer and accessories. It also needs to be able to fit my QC2 headphones. Have you tried the UD70P? I'm hoping it can fit a a D700 w/ Grip, 105VR, 24-70 and 70-200 and an SB-600 (or two).

I've owned the 70 for a couple weeks and it will easily be able to fit what you listed. However, it will not hold a computer very well.

Is it different in holding a computer than the other UD bags? Because I find that the UD 50 fits either of my Macbook Pros well.

From what I can see in the pics and specs there is no laptop compartment. You might be able to make room for one...

FWIW. I'm sure the UD70 will be another great bag from TT. But, my UD60 carries about as much stuff weight wise as I care to carry. And the UD60 fully loaded won't fit under the seats or in the overheads of small planes. I have to unload some of the stuff from the bag to fit on smaller planes.

+1

I barely like stuffing my UD50 full of camera gear, laptop and then other stuff. I would think the 70 size would be a back breaker.

+2

I have a UD60, while I admire the way TTP have been able to fold the time/space continuum inside the bag, allowing me stuff an ungodly amount of gear inside it, they have yet to defeat gravity and so bag can hold more than I can comfortably carry. When they overcome gravity, I'll look at the UD70. In the meantime I'm quite happy with all 4 of my TTP bags.

Peace,

Todd

I just loaded up my UD50 and i can fit my D700, 24-70 w/ hood reversed, 70-200 w/ hood reversed, SB 600 in the Nikon carrying pouch, Gary Fong Lightsphere and my cards and card reader in the main compartment, I use the back compartment for my kindle, I stuff my QC2s in the place where the rain cover usually goes and then I have some space. I find that it fits in the underseat of small planes, and the overhead if there is nothing in the front pocket. I don't find it too heavy though, it may be because i usually have it on top of my roller or that it doesn't weight that much in proportion to me, as I'm 6'4 240 so I can usually handle a bigger load of stuff.
