p.1 #1 · Benro C-297EX Flexpod or Manfrotto 055CXPRO3

Hi everyone,
I am looking at purchasing either of these two tripods (Benro C-297EX Flexpod or the Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 tripod).

I would be using it for cold weather photography and other outdoor photography and probably would NOT be extremely easy on it. The reason I only chose clip-lock tripods is because I read in a book by an experienced pro that twist locks can get jammed if you're in water (and I am not about to dump nearly a thousand bucks into a Gitzo ocean pod). I want a carbon fiber tripod (with the Q90 center column feature, or similar) that will last me a long time of rugged use, supporting my 40D and maybe a midsize telephoto L lens (e.g. 300 f/4L or 100-400L IS).

What I like about the Benro is that it comes with spiked feet for $325. The Manfrotto is $400 without spiked feet . What's really holding me back is that I can't find any reviews on the Benro C-297EX flexpod. Look on Adorama. Look on B&H. Nothing. I could love to hear your opinions on either or both of these tripods.

Also, I have never owned a tripod that has independent adjusting legs. When the specs say, for example, "Four leg-angle settings (23,47,66 & 89°)", does that mean that the legs will only lock at those 4 angles? I guess I always thought they would lock at any angle.

Thanks.
