p.1 #1 · HS Soccer -- NM First Round Game

It's State Tournament time in NM. I took some pictures of a first round game, late afternoon, cold day, high clouds. Game was Friday, 10/30/09, light changing from late afternoon sun to dusk.

1DMkIII, 300 F2.8L IS with 1.4x TC.

1. tighten the crop on top and bottom and add more to the left if u can
2. cool shot
3. add some space to top and left if u can, nice action

Thanks for the response -- it's always helpful to see the pictures through someone else's eyes.

I added some shooting info to the original post, and am trying to replace the first image without success, so far.

1. You are right, your crop suggestion is better.
2. thanks.
3. Unfortunately, there's no more room left and top -- the players were right on top of me -- but the idea sounds right to me.

Cool shots, the only thing that I think really needs to be recropped is the first one. If possible crop out those balloons as they are distracting. When I first looked at the image that is where my eyes initially went. #2 is an AWESOME shot i love the action and the facial expressions on both of their faces.

I agree about those balloons, they are distracting, but to crop them I'll need to lop off the players extended arm -- I was torn between the two evils. Which is your preference? In the shot after that, they have gone past the balloons, but both player's heads are down.

Glad you liked the GK collision.

hi bob, when i shoot in a stadium like that i always shoot at 2.8 to try to soften the backgrounds....

i suspect he meant clone not crop and i wouldn't bother
try wide open on the lens next time to soften the bg-s

I knew they played a touch brand of Futbul here in NM. Really liked the goalie shot. Are you shooting the rest of the playoffs?

rimland: Thanks, right again. I should know better. The f/5.6 was a mistake, f4.0 is as wide as I can go with the 1.4x TC.

Robert: Yes, I do plan to go down to ABQ and take pictures. Will you be there too?
