We had a semi rare winter visitor at the wetlands this afternoon, actually two.
This is one of the smallest gulls in North America from what I have read.

Another first for me.

Nice job Tim. These guys are very common up here all spring and summer. They are actually more attractive with all black head.

Here is some info from whatbird.com

"Bonaparte's gulls are named after a nephew of Napoleon,
Charles Lucien Bonaparte, who was a leading ornithologist
in the 1800's in America and Europe".
