A matter of choice choice of what and wallet possibility I don't even know what you talk about in your reply ? they are selling not buying ..........
Investment is something I belive would be worth more in the future. Like stocks, options, futures and similar things. I would not invest in something I know would be worth less already the day after I bought it. It's the work of the pros that make money. Not the camera body.........
If you choose to spend your money to buy the newest gear (and sell the old one fore much less then bought for) and your money isn't enough to go on a holiday anymore it's a choice. Wallet means for those who have money enough they can buy the newest cam's and go on a holiday and what so ever
I understand that the picture is taken by the pro and the cam is your tool.

I have used a 1DIII on a couple of brief occasions actually, but not a 5DII. To be honest, that's my ego responding to your post...I just hate my new camera being called a Ford Focus
Not meant as an offense
And yes I have a ford and a 1d3

Of course you have to sell the camera for much less than you bought it for Do you really belive that you can buy a new Canon 1D3 and use it a year or two and get nearly the same money back when selling it used

But this thread was not about if you have money enough to go on a holiday. Or having money enough to buy the newest gear.
This thread was about "Why people killing the camera at buy and sale forum
They selling it for $2,300/2,400"
Sorry guys If I knew I was going to get members mad i was never going to start this thread!!
I was a little mad for prizes dropping as fast for the Mark III on the buy and sales forums,I didn't think was necessary because the new Mark 5 its not out yet.
I'm holding my MK III for wile, because i dont make any prints bigger then 16x24 or lots of money on sport/animal/bird photography.
After all 90% its the guy behind the camera

What, exactly, does 'necessary' have to do with market forces?
I remember paying the maximum on the 50D only to watch it drop $200 within months of its introduction. It happens and the 1dMk3 has been out a while. Besides, I for one will be on the look out for a good priced 1dMk3 myself. Who knows by that time the 1dsMk4 might show up. You never know what Canon's up to but one's pain is another's gain.

I cant wait to see the price on a 1Ds 5
maybe $10,000.00
My dad always says, "A thing is only worth what somebody else is willing to pay for it". But the good news is if you don't agree with what a thing might sell for then you don't have to sell it! And furthermore we're talking about professional tools here for the most part, not investments but depreciatable business assets. I always choose the best tools for my jobs and the cost of my equipment is still a fraction of what most business owners I know must shell out for their operating assets.

Are you talking about the Mark 4 or 5 here?? In another post you also say the prices are dropping before the Mark 5 is out?? The Mark 4 isn't even out so why would the Mark 5 have anything to do with prices of the Mark 3??
This has happened all along, a new camera comes out and the old ones are worth significantly less. I think its great that the prices are dropping, I'm looking at a Mark II or IIn they are getting down around $1000 now for a pro body. Same thing happens with any electronics like computers, my 3 yr old top of the line laptop is maybe worth $500 but to buy the equivalent top of the line now would cost over $3000.
Lenses can be an investment but camera bodies certainly are not. You use them for as long as you want and either sell them or keep them as a backup and get the next camera that meets you needs.
yeah i hate that ppl are dumping a wonderful camera for ridiculous price. it makes the 1d3 look like a "pos"...
i tried to sell mine here and other places... ppl totally low ball me, and then i see posts where ppl sell their bodies for 2100 here? that is just plain ridiculous. no way am i selling my 1d for almost the same price as a 7d (canadian price for 7d is 2000+taxes...) 7d is nice but it aint a 1dm3 thats for SURE.
i ended up keeping my 1dm3 ... absolutely perfectly working body. ... it will remain a wonderful body alongside my new 5dmark2.
anyway.. for those of you who bought a 1dm3 for 2100-2500... ENJOY IT. well done taking advantage of the situation.
Yes, but an awful lot of crap gets written about this camera on these boards - & mostly by people who don't own one but nevertheless feel the need to opine.
